My New 3DS arrived! Despite being second hand, it’s in perfect nick and I now have the legal opportunity to download and play the vast majority of Zelda games!* A good day.
Mostly good, anyway. It’s not a particularly comfy handheld, is it? The only way I can hold the damn thing is in an awkward claw position that’s bound to get a bit crampy after hours of play. But whatever. I’ll get used to it. Let the adventure continue.
I’ve decided what I’m going to play next. Despite not particularly wanting to play through the series in release order, I realise it does make sense. It’s the best way to appreciate the evolution of the series. So I’m going to stick pretty close to it.
Basically, I’m going to skip Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. A predominantly side-scrolling game, it’s the odd one out, a weird aberration and – according to most – a bit plop. I’ll play it eventually, but it’s going on the back burner for a bit. I want to get to the good stuff.
That good stuff? The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past; one of the few Zelda games I’ve played and the first to capture my imagination all those years ago. I’m excited. Let’s get on with it.
*I immediately paid for and downloaded The Legend of Zelda, by the way. May Nintendo forgive my emulating sins.
